Please reach us at sulphurbc@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
At Sulphur Baptist Church, we keep the service simple yet doctrinally rich, relaxed but reverential to Christ alone. Our passion is to keep our eyes fixed upon the risen Savior and proclaim the glorious holiness of God.
We also find our gathering to be a wonderful time of fellowship with the body of believers.
Here are some specifics you can expect during a typical worship gathering:
Prayer
At Sulphur, we take advantage of the greatest privilege we have as followers of Jesus and that is to pray. Because of Christ's perfect atonement for our sins, we have peace with God and can pray with boldness and confidence.
We will congregationally pray multiple times during our time together. If you need prayer, be sure to stop by the Next Steps resource area that is located at the back of the sanctuary. We would be overjoyed to pray with you.
Singing
Pastor Billy Washburn will lead us with piano accompaniment in a variety of hymns and songs that are arranged based upon the text or topic of the sermon. This is to make the Word of God our foundation as led by the Holy Spirit.
At Sulphur, you'll sing a variety of great theological, Christ centered hymns from a hymnal. If you need help navigating the hymnal, we would be happy to help! For ease of access, all songs and page numbers that will be sung are posted in the church bulletin.
We believe the gathering is in no way entertainment rather heartfelt praise and worship directed to God.
Sermon
The highlight of the service is the hearing of God's Word. Weekly, the Pastor will clearly and faithfully preach from the Bible.
Don't worry if you do not have a Bible, it would be our privilege to gift you one.
Communion
On the night before Jesus died, He instituted a beautiful remembrance ceremony for His followers. A meal, so that His disciples would symbolically remember Jesus' body and blood that was broken and poured out for the atonement of their sins.
We celebrate communion at Sulphur Baptist Church and welcome all Christians who are actively by faith, trusting in the perfect person and finished work of Jesus Christ for salvation.
Giving
At Sulphur, we joyfully worship through giving our tithe and offerings to the Lord. We give back a small portion out of the abundance the Lord has so graciously blessed our lives with.
If you are our guest, please do not feel obligated to give anything financially – please feel free to give as God leads you.
At Sulphur Baptist Church you'll probably see a mixture of outfits. From a suit and tie to t-shirts and jeans, you are welcome.
Children are a blessing from God and are a vital part of the church. We do not believe that our children will one day become the church, we believe that our children ARE the church.
We have a comfortable nursery available for babies and toddlers if needed.
Kids are gladly welcomed in the worship gathering! We also offer kid-friendly busy boxes as they join us in worship.
Welcome, you have found the right place. Sulphur strives to be a comfortable place for those who are curious about God, wanting to learn, find community and most importantly receive the forgiveness of sins that is offered only though Jesus Christ. If you have been walking with the Lord for a long time, this is the place for you as well. We do not shy from teaching the hard Scriptures and doctrines, rather we strive to help you understand the Word of God and apply it to your daily life.
